Maybe

Maybe it seems like she is overreacting.  

Maybe it feels very scary for her.

What you cannot do is tell someone how to feel. Or, maybe now you can...  

Think about it this way. America had a choice and at the end of the day it was a simple one. 

Maybe you didn’t like some of the policies of one candidate and the timeline in which she became an option for our country’s leadership.  

But. It is almost like this simple choice can be represented by two objects:

A book.

And a loaded gun.  

One has words or chapters you might not like and maybe has some nuanced implications. 

The other, well. The other reads loud and clear.  

71 million Americans chose the loaded gun. 

She may be scared and grieving deeply.  

Regardless of your beliefs, this choice feels deeply threatening and scary for many. 

Instead of diminishing someone’s feelings, hold them. 

Hold them like you might hold a child afraid to go to school because of a threat of violence.

Maybe this is an overreaction. I hope deeply that it is.
